For the many people across the UK, there is only one route to relocation – the DIY route. Roughly translated, they see very little point in hiring removals companies for a job they feel they can carry out themselves just as competently, while making a tidy saving at the same time.
And it seems logical – you carry out the move yourself under your own steam and your reward is not having to pay for someone else to do it. However, it’s not quite as simple as it seems, and those shunning professional removals rarely realise just how far they’re selling themselves short.
Here’s a look at just a few examples of what you’re giving up and ruling out by insisting on DIY removals without even considering the professional alternative:
Right off the bat, there can’t be anyone that ever wishes their home moving process would take longer than it actually does. It’s a necessary evil of the highest calibre, which in turn means the faster and more efficiently it’s carried out, the better for all involved. As removals companies do this for a living, have large teams to count on, large vehicles to work with and all the experience in the world, it goes without saying that moving times can be slashed massively by involving the best in the business. And really – who can put a price on time?
Sometimes, even worse than the time and effort it takes to move is the general disruption of day-to-day life. You find yourself half-living in two properties interspersed by endless trips in the car/van being used – not exactly great when juggling a busy family and working life. The alternative therefore is to hire the professionals, who have the ability to either blitz the whole of the process in one go, or take care of it in bite-sized chunks – whichever works better for keeping family life going smoothly. No time off work, no use of annual leave, no missed appointments and so on and so forth – absolutely priceless once again.
Protection of Valuables
Sure you think you’re the best person to look after your valuables and fragile items, but are you really? After all, your home contents insurance might cover them, but are they covered when loaded into the back of the car or van you’ve rented for the job. Chances are, probably not. With removals firms however, comprehensive insurance usually comes as standard, which means that when and where accidents happen…as they may…you’ll never come out of the deal worse-off.
And last but not least in this list comes contingency cover. For example – say you’ve set aside a full day off work to do some hardcore DIY moving – what if you’re struck down with the flu? Or say your car won’t start? Choose the professsional service and you enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing no matter what might happen in and around the process, the removal will be taken care of exactly when and where it’s needed.
